A document always keeps its own business

Why an invoice prints the business that created it, even when the switcher shows another business, and why it can never be moved.

wrong business on invoice, wrong logo, move invoice to other business, change business of job, document business, invoice belongs to, reprint old invoice, wrong GST number on invoice, which business printed, header business, transfer job

Every job, invoice, quotation, sale and payment belongs to the business that created it. That business is set when you save the document, and it never changes.

BytePhase keeps two ideas apart:

What it is Can it change?
The business switcher What you’re looking at right now. It decides your lists, filters and which business a new document starts with Yes, as often as you like
The document’s business Which business raised the document. It’s printed on every copy No, never

Your account has two businesses: “City Phone Repairs” and “City Accessories”. On Monday you create an invoice while working in City Phone Repairs. On Friday you switch to City Accessories and reprint that invoice.

It still prints City Phone Repairs: its name, logo, tax number, invoice number series and bank details. That’s correct. A customer’s invoice must always look the same, however many times you print it.

When you print, download the PDF or share it on WhatsApp, the document always uses its own business’s:

  • name, logo, address and signature
  • tax or GST number
  • number series, for example the invoice number
  • bank details, and in India its UPI and payment QR
  • print settings and terms and conditions

A document never borrows the bank account or payment QR of another business.

Stock and repair services belong to each business. When you add parts or services to a document, you pick from that document’s business. A document that was saved with another business’s item keeps showing it.
