BytePhase sends SMS through an SMS service (a provider). Which one depends on your country:

  • In India, BytePhase sends SMS for you through Gupshup. There’s nothing to set up. Each SMS uses SMS credits.
  • Outside India, you connect your own Twilio or BulkGate account. Until you do, SMS can’t be sent.
  • Outside India, create a Twilio or BulkGate account first and keep its details ready:
    • Twilio: your Twilio SID, Twilio auth token and the phone number you send from.
    • BulkGate: your Application ID and Application token.
  • Don’t see Set up? Ask your shop owner to let you connect integrations.

Do this on the provider’s website, not in BytePhase.

Twilio

  • Sign in to your Twilio Console. Under Account Info, you see your Account SID (it starts with AC) and Auth Token. Click the eye icon to show the token.
  • You also need an SMS-enabled Twilio phone number. Get one under Phone Numbers › Manage › Buy a number. Trial accounts often get one automatically.
  • In BytePhase, the Account SID goes in Twilio SID. Type the number in From mobile with its country code, for example +1.

BulkGate

  • Sign in at portal.bulkgate.com. Top up your BulkGate credit first. BulkGate is prepaid, so no SMS go out with a zero balance.
  • Open Modules & APIs, click Add API, and give it a name you’ll recognise, for example BytePhase.
  • Copy the Application ID and Application Token shown on that page.

Keep the auth token and application token private, like a password. If one leaks, make a new one at the provider and save it in BytePhase again.

  1. Go to Settings › Integrations. On a phone, tap More › System › Integrations.

  2. On the Twilio or BulkGate card, click Set up.

  3. Fill in the details:

    • Twilio: Twilio SID, Twilio auth token and From mobile (the number your SMS come from).
    • BulkGate: Application ID and Application token.
  4. Leave Service status as Active. Turn on Make primary, so BytePhase sends your SMS through this provider.

  5. Click Save.

The page reloads. The card shows Active and Primary.

    Desktop
  • Only one provider can be Primary. Making one primary turns it off on the others.
  • BytePhase sends SMS only through the provider that is both Active and Primary.
  • In India, if no provider is primary, SMS goes through Gupshup.
  • The Gupshup card can only be switched on in India. Use it to make Gupshup primary again after trying another provider.
