Mailchimp is an email marketing service. You write and send your offers and newsletters in Mailchimp. BytePhase helps in two ways: it adds your leads and customers to your Mailchimp audience, and it shows how each campaign did.

There’s no Email marketing item in the main menu. You reach it from Settings › Integrations.

  • You need a Mailchimp account with an audience (mailing list). Have your Mailchimp API key and Server ready. The next section shows where to find them.
  • Only people who can manage integrations can connect Mailchimp. Owners can already.
  • Use a computer for the setup.

Do this in Mailchimp, not in BytePhase.

  1. Sign in to Mailchimp. Click your profile icon at the bottom left, then Account & Billing.

  2. Go to Extras › API keys.

  3. Click Create A Key. Copy the key and keep it safe, like a password.

  4. Look at the end of the key. The part after the dash, for example us21, is your Server.

  1. Click Settings at the bottom of the left menu. Then click Integrations.

  2. On the Mailchimp card (“Send marketing campaigns”), click Set up.

The Set up Mailchimp window opens.

  3. Type your Mailchimp Server (the part after the dash at the end of your API key, for example us21) and your API key.

  4. Set Service status to Active, then save.

    Desktop
  1. Go to Settings › Integrations. On the Mailchimp card, click Manage.

The Email marketing page lists your Mailchimp campaigns: title, subject, sender and more.

  2. Click a campaign to open its Campaign report: emails sent, open rate, click rate, bounces and unsubscribes.

If you see “Mailchimp is not connected”, set it up first as above.

Add leads or customers to your Mailchimp audience

Section titled “Add leads or customers to your Mailchimp audience”
  1. Go to Leads. Tick the leads you want to add.

  2. At the top of the list, click Mailchimp.

You can also open one lead’s actions and click Subscribe to Mailchimp.

  3. In the Subscribe to Mailchimp window, type your Mailchimp Audience ID. Add Tags if you like, and choose the subscriber status, usually subscribed.

  4. Save. The leads are added to that audience in Mailchimp.

  • You create and send campaigns in Mailchimp itself, not in BytePhase.
  • You can also add customers: on a computer, go to Customers, tick the customers you want and click Mailchimp. The ticks and the button only show while Mailchimp is connected.
  • To see campaigns, staff need access to email marketing (Marketing — View). To add leads, they need Marketing — Create & send.
  • People can unsubscribe through Mailchimp’s own link. That’s separate from your BytePhase message choices. See Customer notification preferences.
