I can't pick the Modern or Compact print theme
Why the Modern or Compact print theme is faded or locked, and how to pick it.

What you see: in Print settings, the Modern and Compact theme cards look faded or show a padlock. Or none of the theme cards do anything when you click them.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Modern and Compact need the Standard plan or above.
- To change a theme, your shop owner must let you change business settings.
Try these fixes
Section titled “Try these fixes”1. Check your plan
Section titled “1. Check your plan”On Lite and Basic, the Modern and Compact cards show a padlock and a Standard badge. Clicking one opens an upgrade message. This is the same for the A4 theme (Theme & layout) and the receipt printer theme (Receipt theme & layout).
On Lite and Basic, every document prints in Classic. If you move down to Basic or Lite after using Modern or Compact, your documents go back to Classic. Your text size still applies.
- Upgrade to Standard or Enterprise.

2. Ask for the right to change settings
Section titled “2. Ask for the right to change settings”If no theme card can be clicked and there’s no Save settings button, you can look at print settings but not change them.
- Ask an admin to give you Business Settings › Change settings on your Permissions tab.
- Or ask them to change the theme for you.
3. Turn off the custom layout for one document
Section titled “3. Turn off the custom layout for one document”When Custom for this document is on, the theme cards are replaced by the line “The theme is shared by every document of this business.” A theme always covers every document of a business. You can’t set it for one document only.
- Turn off the custom switch, or pick a document while Default for all documents is shown.
- Choose the theme.
4. Pick A4 or receipt printing, not labels
Section titled “4. Pick A4 or receipt printing, not labels”Barcode labels and stickers have no theme. The theme cards only appear under A4 / Laser and Thermal receipt in Where it prints.
- At the top of the page, select A4 / Laser or Thermal receipt.
