Use this when you’ve done work on a device or fitted a part, for example a new screen and the labour to fit it.

  • To add services, ask your shop owner to let you add and edit job services (Jobs — Add & edit services). To add parts, you need Jobs — Add & edit parts.
  • The services and parts you pick come from the business the job belongs to. If you have more than one business, make sure the business switcher shows that one.
  • To pick a part from stock, it must already be in Inventory for that business. You can also type a one-off part or service by hand.
  1. Go to Jobs and open the job. Then click the Services and parts tab.

  2. At the top right, click Edit.

  3. Under Services, click Search services. Type a few letters and pick the service.

Can’t find it? Click Add service manually and type a name and price.

  4. Under Parts, click Search parts by name or SKU and pick the part. Or click Scan barcode and scan the part’s label.

For a part that isn’t in your inventory, click Add item manually.

  5. Check each row. Change the Quantity, Price, Discount or Tax if you need to. The row total changes as you type.

  6. In the yellow “Unsaved changes” bar, click Save changes.

The rows are saved. The totals at the bottom change to match.

  7. Click Done.

  • Each item from your lists can be on a job only once. If you pick it again, the quantity goes up instead.
  • Tax columns show only when the business is GST or tax registered.
  • Each service row has its own Status and technician (To do, In progress, Completed). So different technicians can each look after different work. On a computer, change these in the row. On a phone, tap the service row.
  • The job quotation and invoice use these same rows. See Send a repair quote and get the customer’s yes or no.
  • When you add a part from stock to a job, your stock goes down. If you remove the part, the stock goes back. If you change the quantity, the stock changes to match.
  • If you don’t have enough stock, BytePhase stops you (“You don’t have enough stock of …”). Your shop owner can allow it with Allow parts beyond available stock in Settings › App & account › General settings. Your shop can also change the job’s status on its own when an out-of-stock part is added (Job status when out-of-stock part added).
  • If Don’t allow part changes on closed jobs is on, you can’t add, change or remove parts once the job is closed. Reopen the job first.
  • Each business has its own stock and services. You can only pick items from the job’s own business. If you see “This item isn’t available in the current business. Remove it and pick it again.”, switch to the job’s business and pick the item again.
  • Rows already saved on a job keep showing the item they were saved with.

When you type a new item by hand, you may see Save to services or Save to inventory. This shows if you’re also allowed to add to those lists. It adds the item to your list so you can pick it next time.

  • There’s no Edit button: you need one of the permissions in “Before you start”. See I can’t find a menu item or button.
  • “This service is already on the job.”: change the quantity on the row that’s already there.
