Check a device's condition before and after repair

Tick a checklist of the device's condition when you take it in and when the repair is done, so nobody argues about scratches later.

Use this to note what a device looks like when it comes in, and again when it’s fixed. For example, “Back glass cracked” and “Screen scratched” for a phone. You set up the checklist once for each device type. Then staff just tick boxes.

  • To set up the checklist, ask your shop owner to let you add pre/post conditions (Pre/Post Conditions — Create & edit).
  • Turn on Record device condition under Settings › App & account › General settings. While it’s off, the checklist doesn’t show on new jobs.
  • Each checklist item belongs to one Device type, for example Mobile or Laptop. Add the device types you repair first.
  • Your list of conditions is shared by all your businesses.
  1. Go to Settings › Jobs & repairs. Under How work moves, click Pre/post conditions.

  2. Click + above the list. The Create pre/post condition window opens.

  3. Pick the Device type it applies to.

  4. Pick the Repair condition type:

    • Pre-repair condition: what you check when you take the device in.
    • Post-repair condition: what you check when the repair is done.
  5. Type the Pre/post condition name, for example “Screen scratched”.

  6. Click Save. Repeat for each item on your checklist.

  1. When you take the device in. On the new job form, pick the Device type. Under Pre-repair conditions, turn on each item that applies. Use Select all to tick them all.

This also works for each device on the bulk repair job form.

    Desktop
  2. When the repair is done. Change the job’s status to a finished status, for example Completed. In the Update job status window, open Add post-conditions and turn on each item that applies. Then save the status and confirm the message.

You only see Add post-conditions if the job has pre-repair conditions ticked.

  • Change the checklist later. Turn on Record device condition under Settings › App & account › General settings. Then Pre/post condition shows in Job actions (on a phone, under ⋮). It opens the checklist for that job. Once the job is closed, you can switch between Pre-repair conditions and Post-repair conditions.
  • Only the device’s type. The form shows only the conditions for the job’s Device type. If you see no checklist, check that Record device condition is on and that there are conditions for that device type.
  • On the printout. The ticked conditions print on the job sheet. Each business can turn this off with Device condition (before & after) in print settings.
  • Photos help too. Add photos of any damage. See Images and attachments.
