Which business's details print, and why
A document always prints the name, logo, tax number, bank details and settings of the business that created it. Here's what comes from where.
business details on invoice, logo on invoice, company name on bill, letterhead, GST number on invoice, tax number on print, bank details on invoice, UPI QR on invoice, signature on invoice, shop details print, which business prints, two businesses, multiple businesses, business switcher, wrong logo, missing logo, missing bank details, shop profileEvery document prints the details of the business that created it. The business picked in the switcher doesn’t change that. It only decides what you see on screen and which business new documents go to.
For example, you run a phone repair shop and a separate accessories business. A job sheet made under the repair shop always shows the repair shop’s name, logo and tax number. That stays true even if you print it later while the accessories business is picked.
If your shop has only one business, everything simply comes from that business.
When a document gets its business
Section titled “When a document gets its business”A new job, quotation, invoice, sale or purchase belongs to the business picked when you create it. The form shows this above the fields, for example “Creating job for” and the business name.
Once saved, the document keeps that business for good. You can’t move it to another business.
Some documents belong to something else, and follow it:
- A delivery challan, diagnosis report or outsourcing delivery challan follows its job.
- An AMC service follows its AMC contract. A rental deposit receipt follows its rental contract.
Documents made before you added a second business belong to your first (default) business.
What comes from the document’s business
Section titled “What comes from the document’s business”| On the printout | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Business name, address, phone numbers, email, website | The business’s Basic information and Address & contact |
| Tax/GST number | Tax details. It prints only when the business is registered for GST or tax |
| MSME number | Tax details |
| Logo and business signature | Logo & signature |
| Bank details and UPI payment QR | Bank & UPI |
| Document number (for example the invoice number) | The business’s own Sequence numbers |
| Theme, paper size and which details print | The business’s Print settings |
| Terms and conditions | The terms the document got when it was made, from that business |
You edit all of these under Settings › Business settings, then open the business.
What’s borrowed, and what never is
Section titled “What’s borrowed, and what never is”If a business has no name, phone numbers or email of its own, the ones from your Shop profile print instead. The shop profile is shared by all your businesses.
A business never borrows another business’s logo, signature, bank details or UPI payment QR. If one is missing, it’s simply left off the printout. This keeps a customer’s money from going to the wrong account.
Reprinting after a change
Section titled “Reprinting after a change”When you print a document again, it uses its business’s current logo, details and print settings. Its number, amounts and terms stay the same. So after you fix a logo or a tax number, reprint the document to get the corrected copy.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Two businesses need the Standard plan or above. See Your account, businesses and branches.
- Each business has its own print settings and terms. See Print settings and Terms and conditions on your documents.
- Each business has its own number series. See Document numbers.
Something not right?
Section titled “Something not right?”If a printout shows the other business’s name, logo or bank details, see The printout shows the wrong business details.
