Print or share a document from your phone

Use this when you’re working on a phone and need a printout or a PDF copy of a job sheet, invoice or receipt.

BytePhase doesn't connect to printers itself

On a phone, BytePhase makes a PDF of the document. Your phone then prints or shares it. BytePhase doesn’t connect to Bluetooth printers directly.

Before you start

• Your phone needs a way to print: a printer it already knows, or the print app from your printer’s maker.
• For a receipt, the paper size in Print settings must match your roll (58 mm or 80 mm).

Steps

1. Open the document. For a job document, open the job, tap ⋮ (Job actions) and find it under Documents & print. You can also scroll down the job’s Overview to the Documents card.

2. Tap the print icon.

   A menu opens, titled for example “Print Invoice”. If the document has only one choice, it starts straight away.

3. Tap what you need:

   • Document: the full page (A4 or the size you set).
   • Thermal: a receipt for your receipt printer.
   • Download: a copy of the PDF.
   • Share (Android and iPhone app only): send the PDF to another app, such as WhatsApp, email or your printer’s app.

4. Print or send it:

   • In the Android or iPhone app, the PDF opens in your phone’s PDF viewer. On an iPhone, the share menu may open instead. Use the viewer’s print or share option to send it to your printer.
   • In a phone browser, the PDF opens in a new tab with the browser’s print option.

Done!

The document is printed, or saved or sent as a PDF.

Good to know

• Sharing adds the message for you. When you share from the app and the customer can get WhatsApp messages, BytePhase adds the usual message text along with the PDF.
• Nothing opens in a phone browser? The browser blocked the new tab. Allow pop-ups for BytePhase and try again.
• Not every document has Thermal. If it’s missing, use Document or Share. See What you can print for the list.
• Printing from a computer is easier. Use it when your receipt printer is set up on a Windows or Mac computer. Open BytePhase in a browser there and print as normal.
