India only.

Use this when a customer wants to pay a job or a bill on their phone or by card. BytePhase asks PhonePe for the money and records the payment for you once it goes through.

  • You need a PhonePe merchant account and its Merchant ID. For a card machine, you also need the Store ID and each machine’s Terminal ID from PhonePe.
    • No PhonePe merchant account yet? Contact BytePhase support. We connect you with the PhonePe for Business team, who check a few business documents. Approval usually takes 3 to 4 working days.
    • The Store ID and Terminal ID are in the card machine (EDC) section of your PhonePe merchant dashboard. Your PhonePe account manager can also help.
  • To connect PhonePe, your shop owner must let you connect apps (Integrations › Connect & configure). To take a payment, you need Payments › Record payments.
  • The Collect payments feature must be turned on. In India it’s on from the start. See Turn a feature on or off.
  1. Go to Settings › Integrations. On a phone, tap More › System › Integrations.

  2. On the PhonePe card, click Set up.

The Set up PhonePe window opens.

  3. Type your Merchant ID.

  4. Using a PhonePe card machine? Type the Store ID. Under Card machine terminals, fill in the Terminal ID and Terminal name, and keep Active ticked. Click Add terminal for each extra machine.

  5. Leave Service status on active and click Save.

  1. Open the job or sale. For a job, click Job actions, then Add payment. On a phone, tap ⋮, then Add payment.

The Select payment method window opens with three choices.

  2. Choose how the customer pays:

    • Add payment: you already have the money (cash, for example). You record it yourself.
    • Collect payment: PhonePe sends a payment request to the customer’s mobile number.
    • Card machine payment: the amount goes to your PhonePe card machine.
  3. For Collect payment: check the Mobile number and the Amount. Then click Collect payment to send the request, or Generate QR code to show a QR code the customer scans.

    Desktop
  4. When the customer has paid, click Check status.

When PhonePe confirms the money, the payment is added to the job or sale for you. If the customer changes their mind, click Cancel request.

  5. For Card machine payment: Choose card machine, check the Amount and click Start payment. You see “Payment request sent to card machine”. Ask the customer to complete the payment on the machine, then click Check status.

  • See every request. Go to Billing › Collect payments (UPI/QR) for a list of requests with their payment status. Use Check status on a row to refresh one.
  • No card machine yet? Card machine payment shows “No card machines added yet”. Tap it to see how to add one.
  • One PhonePe account for the whole shop. If you run more than one business, they share the same PhonePe connection. Each payment is still recorded under the business of the job or sale.
  • QR on the bill. With PhonePe connected, a job invoice or sale that isn’t fully paid can show a PhonePe payment QR for that bill amount. See Add your UPI id and payment QR code.
  • You don’t see Collect payment or Card machine payment: PhonePe isn’t connected, or its status isn’t active. Only Add payment shows then.
  • The customer didn’t get the payment request: a request arrives only in the PhonePe app. If they use another UPI app, such as Google Pay, Paytm or BHIM, click Generate QR code instead. Any UPI app can scan it.
  • The card was declined or the customer cancelled: nothing is recorded. Start the card machine payment again.
  • No Collect payments (UPI/QR) tab: see I can’t find a menu item or button.
