Use this when a customer asks you to stop sending them SMS or WhatsApp messages, or only wants some messages. You can switch off a whole message type, or single messages such as “job created”.

  • Only people who can change settings can edit this tab (Business Settings — Change settings). Owners can already. If you can’t, ask your shop owner.
  • These choices are for this one customer. Your shop-wide defaults are set elsewhere.
  1. Go to Customers and open the customer.

  2. Click the Notification preferences tab. On a phone, scroll the tab row to find it.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Under Channel preferences, turn off WhatsApp, SMS or Mail to stop all messages of that type to this customer.

The type then shows All stopped.

  5. To change single messages, click a message name below to open it. Turn its SMS, Mail, In-app or WhatsApp switch on or off.

The badge next to each message shows how many of its own switches are on, for example 2 / 4. It still counts a switch whose type is stopped under Channel preferences. That switch is shaded red, you can’t change it, and nothing is sent that way.

  6. Click Save.

    You see “Notification preferences saved”.

Every email your shop sends from BytePhase has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom.

  • If the email belongs to one of your customers, the link opens their own notification preferences page. They click Edit, untick what they don’t want, and click Save. Nobody needs to sign in.
  • If the email isn’t linked to a customer, the page asks them to confirm. They then see “You have been successfully unsubscribed from our emails.”

Changes a customer makes there show on their Notification preferences tab too.

  • Report emails (daily, weekly and monthly summaries) go by email only. Their other switches show N/A.
  • A switched-off type wins. If SMS is off under Channel preferences, no SMS goes out, even for messages whose own SMS switch is on.
  • Customers who sign in can open Notification preferences from their profile menu to see their choices.
