Use BytePhase on your phone

You can use BytePhase on your phone in three ways. Each one shows the same information as on a computer. The phone screens are made for one hand, with a bar at the bottom, short lists and panels that slide up.

iPhone and iPad app from the App Store	iPhones and iPads
Install from your browser	Any device where you’d rather not use an app store

The apps also let you scan barcodes and QR codes with the camera, take photos, and get alerts on your phone.

Before you start

• You need a BytePhase login. That is a staff login, or a customer login your shop gave you.
• To sign in without typing, open BytePhase on a computer where you are already signed in.

Get the app

• Android: BytePhase on Google Play
• iPhone and iPad: BytePhase on the App Store

On a computer, the Google Play and App Store buttons are also at the bottom of the menu on the left.

Sign in on your phone by scanning a QR code

This is the fastest way. You don’t type your shop address or a password.

1. On your computer, click your name at the top right. Then click Use on phone.

   A QR code appears, with the words Ready to scan.

2. On your phone, open the camera and point it at the QR code.

3. Tap the link that appears.

   • If you have the BytePhase app, it opens and signs you in.
   • If you don’t, your phone opens the app store so you can install it. Then open the app, tap Scan QR from computer and scan the same QR code.

   The computer shows Logged in on your phone. You can keep using BytePhase on the computer too.

Desktop

Did the code run out before you scanned it? The window shows This code expired. Click Refresh QR to get a new one.

Done!

You are signed in to BytePhase on your phone, and still signed in on your computer.

Sign in on your phone without a computer

Open the app. The Welcome to BytePhase screen gives you these choices:

• Scan QR from computer (see above)
• Continue with Google or Continue with Apple, if your shop allows them
• Sign in with email or mobile

Install from your browser

1. Open BytePhase in your browser and sign in.

2. Open your profile menu. On a phone, go to the More screen and tap your profile picture at the top right.

3. Under Help & support, tap Install app.

4. Your browser asks if you want to install. Say yes.

   BytePhase now shows on your home screen or in your list of apps.

Install app only shows in browsers that can install web apps, for example Chrome or Edge. It does not show in Safari on iPhone or iPad. Use the App Store app there.

Good to know

• The app asks before it sends alerts, uses the camera or uses your location. It only asks when a feature needs it. To check these later on a phone, tap your profile picture, then App permissions.
• You can’t print straight to a Bluetooth or thermal printer from a phone. Printing opens a PDF that you can print or share. See I can’t print to a thermal printer from my phone.
