Try these fixes
Section titled “Try these fixes”1. Check the business is registered for GST (India)
Section titled “1. Check the business is registered for GST (India)”In India, a business that isn’t GST registered can’t charge tax. While it’s picked in the switcher, tax boxes, tax columns and Tax settings are hidden. Its bills have no tax.
- Open Settings › Business settings and open the business.
- Go to Tax details and look at GST registered.
In India this is chosen when the business is set up, and shows “Cannot be changed” afterwards. If it was set up the wrong way, contact support (support@bytephase.com).
See Registered for GST or tax, or not registered.
2. Check which business you’re in
Section titled “2. Check which business you’re in”If you have two businesses, one may be registered and the other not. The screen follows the business picked in the switcher. A bill follows the business that created it.
- Check the business name in the switcher.
- If the bill was made in the business that isn’t registered, it has no tax. Make the bill again in the right business.
See The printout shows the wrong business details.
3. Check the items have a tax
Section titled “3. Check the items have a tax”The Tax column only prints when at least one line on the bill has a tax. If you didn’t pick a tax on any part or service, there’s nothing to show.
- Open the bill and edit the lines.
- Pick the tax on each part or service, for example GST 18%.
- If you have no tax rates yet, add them first. See Set up tax rates.
4. Turn on the Tax column in Print settings
Section titled “4. Turn on the Tax column in Print settings”You choose which columns print. On a Thermal receipt, the Tax column is off when you start, to save space.
- Go to Settings › Documents & printing › Print settings.
- Under Where it prints, pick A4 / Laser or Thermal receipt.
- Open Item table columns and tick Tax (and HSN / SAC if you need it). For A4, also check Service table columns.
- Click Save settings and print again.
Each of your businesses has its own print settings, so change them for the right business.
5. Add your tax number
Section titled “5. Add your tax number”If the bill has tax but your GSTIN or tax number is missing from the top, the business has no tax number saved. The Tax details page shows “Documents omit the tax line until this is added”.
- Open the business and go to Tax details.
- Type the number and save.
- In Print settings, open Business details and check that Business tax/GST number is ticked.
Still not working?
Section titled “Still not working?”Contact support and send:
- the bill number and the business it belongs to
- whether you print on A4 / Laser or Thermal receipt
- a screenshot of the printout and of the business’s Tax details page
