Use this when a customer hands you a device to repair. For example, a phone with a cracked screen.

  • Don’t see Create or Job? Ask your shop owner to let you add and edit jobs.
  • Have the customer’s name and their mobile number or email ready. You can add a new customer from the form.
  • You need at least one device type and one brand. You can add them from the form as you go.
  • You must fill in Customer name, Device type, Device brand, and at least one service or part. Everything else is optional.
  • Run more than one business? Pick the right one in the business switcher first. The job stays with that business for good.
  • On the Lite plan, you can only create a set number of jobs in each subscription period. See bytephase.com/pricing.
  1. At the top of the screen, click Create, then click Job. Or open Jobs and click the + button above the list.

If Select job type opens, click Repair job. You see this window when data recovery or bulk jobs are turned on.

    Desktop
  2. In Customer name, type at least two letters of the customer’s name, mobile or email. Pick them from the list.

New customer? Click Add customer, fill in their details and save. BytePhase picks them for you.

  3. Source, Job type and Tags are already filled in with your usual choices. To change them, open the Only when needed section at the bottom of the form.

Your shop owner can show, hide or move fields with Form setup on the form.

  4. Under Device information, pick the Device type, then the Device brand. You must fill in both. Pick a Device model if you know it.

  5. Type the Serial / IMEI number (the phone’s ID number). Or click the barcode icon in the box to scan it.

If an open job already has this number, you see This serial number already has an open job: and a link to that job.

  6. Pick the Accessories the customer left with the device. Fill in Storage location, Device color and Device password if your shop uses them. To draw an unlock pattern instead, click Pattern lock.

  7. If your shop lists conditions to check for this device type, tick the ones that apply under Pre-repair conditions. For example, a cracked screen.

  8. Add at least one service or part. If you leave both empty, you see Add at least one part or service.

  9. Describe the fault in Service assessment.

  10. Under More details, check the Priority, Assignee and Due date. If you’ve given the customer a price estimate, type it in Initial quotation.

  11. Click Create.

BytePhase saves the job with the next job number and your usual starting status. Next, Select payment method may open, because taking an advance is turned on unless your shop turned it off. Click Add payment to record the advance, or close the window to skip it.

  12. In the Job created window, choose what to print: Document (A4 job sheet), Thermal or Sticker print (a copy for the technician).

  13. Under Notify customer, tick Mail, SMS, In-app or WhatsApp. Once you tick one, Send & close appears. Click it.

Or click View to open the job, or Create another to add the next one.

  • What the customer gets: nothing is sent until you tick a box in Job created. The message says the job was created and has a link to follow it. See The repair tracking page.
  • What’s filled in for you: the job goes to you unless your shop has a default technician. Whoever gets the job sees an alert in the app as soon as you save. The due date is 5 days ahead unless your shop changed it. Source, job type, priority and status come from Settings › Jobs & repairs › Default job creation settings.
  • Job numbers: each of your businesses has its own job sheet number series.
  • Skip the advance step: your shop owner can turn off Collect advance at job creation under Settings › App & account › General settings (Basic plan and above). On a phone, it’s also under the gear (Job settings) at the top of the Jobs list.
