The steps at a glance
Section titled “The steps at a glance”- Take the device in: create the job, or approve a customer’s self check-in.
- Give it to a technician: assign the job.
- Check it and quote: send a quotation and get the customer’s OK.
- Repair it: add services and parts, and keep the status and customer up to date.
- Bill and collect: create the invoice and record payments.
- Hand it back: add a delivery, with a one-time code (OTP) and signatures if you use them.
All the way through, your customer can follow the job on the repair tracking page.
1. Take the device in
Section titled “1. Take the device in”Fill in the customer, the device, its accessories and condition, and the problem. When you save, the job gets its number and starts in Inward.
The Job created window then lets you print the job sheet and take an advance. You can also send the customer a message with their tracking link.
On the Standard plan and above, customers can fill in the form themselves before they come. You approve their request and it becomes a job.
2. Give it to a technician
Section titled “2. Give it to a technician”Assign the job to the technician who will fix it. A new job goes to whoever creates it, unless your shop has a default technician. The technician gets an alert in the app and finds the job under Assigned.
3. Check it and quote
Section titled “3. Check it and quote”Once you know what’s wrong, send a quotation. The customer can approve or reject it from the link you send. BytePhase can change the job’s status for you when a quotation is created, approved or rejected.
4. Repair it
Section titled “4. Repair it”Add the services and parts you use, so your stock and the job total stay correct. Move the status along as the work goes on. Use comments to talk to the customer, and private notes to talk to your team.
